Copyright and Content Notice

Ownership of content

All text and illustrations on Sex Life Canada are original to the site. They are protected under the Copyright Act of Canada and, where relevant, under international copyright agreements. Publication on the open web does not place the material in the public domain or grant a general licence to reuse it.

Permitted uses

Fair dealing, as recognised in Canadian copyright law, allows limited use of a work for purposes such as research, private study, education, criticism, review and news reporting. Short quotations with clear attribution to the site are also consistent with the intent of this notice.

  • Brief excerpts that credit Sex Life Canada as the source.
  • Links to individual pages.
  • Citation of the site in academic or journalistic work, with attribution.

Uses that are not permitted

Copying whole articles, republishing pages in full, reproducing illustrations, or presenting the content as the work of another person or organisation is not permitted without prior written permission. Automated scraping for the purpose of republishing is likewise outside the scope of fair dealing.

Third-party names and works

Names of people, organisations and works that appear in articles belong to their respective owners. They are mentioned for descriptive and informational purposes only, and no ownership is claimed over them.

Requests for correction or removal

Rights holders, and individuals who believe that a page contains an error or concerns them in a way that calls for correction, can submit a request through the contact page, where a contact address is published. A useful request identifies the page concerned, describes the issue and states the change being sought. Requests are reviewed promptly, and the outcome may be a correction, a clarification, a removal, or a reply explaining why no change is made.

No user-submitted content

The site does not host user-submitted content. There are no comment sections, forums, profiles or upload features, so every page is written and published by the editors.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be revised to reflect changes to the site or to the law. The version on this page is the current one.
