Intended audience

Sex Life Canada is intended for people aged 18 and over. The site covers sexual health, relationships, culture and community from a neutral, informational standpoint, and its articles are written with an adult readership in mind. Persons under 18 are not the intended audience and are asked to leave the site.

Nature of the content

The subject matter is adult-oriented, but the treatment is non-explicit. The site contains no pornography and no sexually explicit images. Illustrations are stylised and restrained, and the text uses plain, clinical or cultural language rather than graphic description.

Parental controls and filtering tools

Many devices, operating systems, browsers and home or school networks include filtering and parental-control features. These tools can restrict access to categories of websites, apply age ratings, or set time limits. Their availability and settings vary between products, and information about them is published by device makers, internet providers and the Government of Canada.

Reporting concerns

Anyone who believes that a page is unsuitable, that a minor may have been given access in a way that raises concern, or that content has been misclassified can report it through the contact page, where a contact address is published. Reports are reviewed by the editors.

Minors and personal data

The site does not knowingly collect personal data from minors. Where personal information is handled, it is handled in line with Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA. If it becomes apparent that information has been received from a person under 18, it is deleted.

Responsibility of users

Visitors who enter the site confirm, by doing so, that they are at least 18 years old and that viewing adult-oriented reference material is lawful where they live. Users are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to them.
