Accessibility Statement

Commitment

Sex Life Canada aims to be usable by as many adult readers as possible, including people who use assistive technology. The design works toward the goals of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. These are goals rather than a certification, and no formal audit result is claimed on this page.

Accessibility features

The site is built with a number of general features that support different ways of reading and navigating.

  • Semantic headings: pages use a logical heading order so that screen reader users and others can move through sections and find a topic quickly.
  • Text alternatives: illustrations carry descriptive alternative text, and decorative images are marked so that assistive technology can skip them.
  • Keyboard navigation: menus, links and interactive elements can be reached and operated with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Colour contrast: text and background colours are chosen to provide readable contrast, and meaning is not conveyed by colour alone.
  • Light and dark colour schemes: the site supports both, following the preference set in the device or browser.

Plain language

Articles are written in clear, plain language with short paragraphs and descriptive link text, which also benefits readers with cognitive or reading differences, and readers using English as an additional language.

Known limitations

Some archived or older content may not yet meet every goal. Gaps can include missing or imprecise text alternatives, inconsistent heading structure, or contrast that falls short on a specific element. Such gaps are treated as items to be corrected rather than accepted.

Reporting an accessibility barrier

Visitors who meet a barrier are invited to report it through the contact page, where a contact address is published. A helpful report names the page, describes the problem and mentions the browser or assistive technology in use. Reports are reviewed, and fixes are made as soon as practicable.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is treated as continuing work. This statement is updated when features change or when new barriers are identified and resolved.
