Writer, Porn Star, Honey Badger: Jeremy Feist

"I wouldn't say there's on general inspiration I receive from sex, mostly because there's different kinds of sex and each kind means something different to me," muses Toronto's Jeremy Feist. "Artistically, I think kinkier sex does provide me with a little more to work with, just because it's a more animalistic, feral sort of passion to it. Romantic sex can be good for inspiration, but generally speaking I get a little less mileage out of it, just because I don't put that side of me out there as often."

When you get to describe yourself as both a freelance writer and slutty porn hooker, you know you're doing something right. Jeremy gets to write about all things queer and interesting with his Toronto Diaries column on Xtra.ca. Recently he's written on a John Holmes penis art exhibition, Chaz Bono and the return of Second Cup to the city's gaybourhood. At the same time, he's busy fulfilling his slutty side by working at establishing his own porn site, planning to produce, direct and act in and then sell. As an adult entertainment model, he's also been taking notes and remembering stories for his book, a more-or-less loving satire of the gay porn industry. "I only mock the things I love, I swear."

With all of this work involving sex, one might think Jeremy might get a little blogged down in it all. But sex does not get in the way for him, well, except when fun might be involved. "Sex has never really hindered me. All my work is in some way tied to it, so I think the only way it really does stall me is when it sidetracks me from what I really need to do."

This interest in sex and sexuality could turn into a life-long thing for Jeremy. When he gets time away from his other projects, he is a big fan of Mary Roach and Dan Savage. Roach's classic Bonk is one that he comes back to time after time. Reading about the science of sex is rubbing off on him. "It would be interesting to become a sex therapist when I'm older. I think the science behind sex and the sort of psychology that comes with two people being locked into a relationship is always interesting."

When asked about his sexual persona, Jeremy explains how it can change, depending on the situation. "Once again, it definitely depends on the kind of sex I'm having. Different sex stimulates different parts of myself, and it also depends on which side of the equation I'm on, e.g. top or bottom, dom or sub....Although it really doesn't help that my brain and dick are constantly at odds with each other. Dick does whatever the dick does. It's the honeybadger of the human body."
